For Doncaster Rovers supporters, May 2025 will be remembered for a long time. On the final day of the 2024-25 season, Grant McCann's side won at Notts County to be crowned EFL League Two champions and seal the club's return to League One.

Rob Street was the hero at Meadow Lane, scoring twice before half-time. "It's what I set out to do, from the minute I walked in the building, to score today," he told The League Paper after what he called a "perfect day". Captain Owen Bailey then lifted the League Two trophy in front of the travelling fans.

The numbers tell the story of a consistent campaign. Rovers finished top with 84 points from 46 matches, winning 24, drawing 12 and losing 10, scoring 73 goals along the way. Luke Molyneux was the club's leading scorer with 16 league goals and 18 in all competitions, and there was also an FA Cup run to the fourth round.

McCann knows the club well. He first managed Rovers from June 2018 until summer 2019, when he left for Hull City, and was re-appointed on 12 May 2023. Since his return, the club has enjoyed some of its happiest days in recent years.

Back in the third tier, Rovers consolidated in 2025-26, finishing 14th of 24 in League One, a solid first season back at a higher level.

It is all part of a long history. The club was founded in 1879 by Albert Jenkins, a fitter at Doncaster's Great Northern Railway works. For 84 years Rovers played at Belle Vue, their home from 1922 until 2007, before moving to the new stadium now known as the Eco-Power Stadium. The first match there was played on New Year's Day 2007 and the ground was officially opened on 3 August that year. Today it holds 15,231 supporters, all seated.

Known affectionately as Donny and the Red and White Army, the club is chaired by Terry Bramall and remains a proud focal point for the city and the wider Doncaster area.

A matchday at the Eco-Power Stadium is a great way to experience that community spirit. Fixtures, tickets and club news are published on the Doncaster Rovers website.
