If you grew up on guitars in Sheffield, the chances are you have spent a night at Corp. Corporation describes itself as the home of rock and alternative music in Sheffield since 1997, and it is still flying the flag for loud, independent nights out.

The club opened in 1997 in a building on Bank Street that had housed several nightclubs before it, and has been on Milton Street in the Devonshire Quarter since 2002. Today it spans three floors and four rooms with six bars. The main arena holds 453, the small arena 150, and The Local Authority, added in 2013, holds 270.

Corp's stage has hosted bands including Bring Me the Horizon, Lamb of God, Slash, Soulfly and Alestorm, and it regularly books major touring bands alongside up-and-coming acts from Sheffield's underground scene. For years it was also home to the Resistanz Festival of industrial and electronic music at Easter.

Club nights are a big part of the story. Monday Corp, Friday Corp and Dirty Deeds are long-running fixtures, with nights covering pop, indie, rock, hardcore and soul across the rooms.

Fans have rewarded that loyalty. A Kerrang! readers' vote ranked Corporation among the country's top three rock clubs, and readers of The Star once voted it Sheffield's best nightclub. Then there is the blue pint, the club's signature drink, which comes in several colour variants and has become part of local folklore.

The October 2026 listings show the mix that keeps people coming back: Hayseed Dixie on 21 October, followed on 23 October by a Friday Corp special celebrating 20 years of Tenacious D's The Pick of Destiny.

Independent venues like this are where bands cut their teeth and where friendships are made on the dancefloor. After almost three decades, Corp remains a rite of passage for each new generation of Sheffield music fans.

Corporation is at 2 Milton Street, S1 4JU. Gig and club night listings are on the Corporation website.
