Sheffield has a thriving circular fashion culture, and Clothes The Loop is one of its most stylish champions. The shop sits inside Leah's Yard on Cambridge Street, the Grade II* listed former home of Little Mesters workshops that has been restored as a hub for independent shops, makers and food and drink.

The business was founded by Hellen, an environmental manager with a background in sustainability, net zero and carbon reduction. Having spent years helping organisations reduce their impact on the planet, she wanted to bring those values into fashion, a world she has always loved. The idea was simple: a space where designer and high-end clothing can be enjoyed again and again, without the waste.

Clothes The Loop specialises in preloved designer womenswear and accessories. Hellen hand-picks every item, with labels ranging from Chanel, Missoni and Gucci to Toast, AllSaints and COS, and the shop's online collection has included names such as Prada, Burberry, Stella McCartney, Maison Margiela and Mulberry. Each piece is authenticated and one of a kind, and the shop rarely gets the same item twice.

For Hellen, preloved is not second best. Choosing preloved clothing helps reduce waste and keeps luxury pieces in circulation, while making designer fashion more affordable. It is also about the joy of the find, whether that is a one-off statement piece, a coveted designer handbag or a timeless coat.

Leah's Yard makes a lovely setting for a browse. Saved from Historic England's Buildings at Risk register in 2023, the building now houses independents including a craft chocolate cafe, a bookshop, a florist, a beer shop and a gallery for artist Pete McKee, so it is easy to make an afternoon of it.

The shop also offers an authentication service, and its full collection can be seen in store, with selected pieces available online.

Clothes The Loop is open from Wednesday to Sunday. Opening times, new arrivals and the online shop are on the Clothes The Loop website.
